AKC's Canine Good Citizen Test
The Canine Good Citizen Program teaches good manners to dogs and responsible dog ownership to their owners. The 10-step CGC test is a non-competitive test for all dogs, including purebreds and mixed breeds.
The AKC’s Canine Good Citizen program is often a prerequisite for therapy animal certifications. It is also a good barometer to determine whether your adventure pet is ready to be a well-mannered member of your community. Some homeowner’s insurance companies encourage CGC testing. There are also an increasing number of apartments and condos that require resident dogs to pass the CGC test.
Passing the CGC does NOT mean you are done training your pet, but it is often a good first step in your lifelong training journey.

All dogs and cats in your home must be current on rabies & distemper vaccines and you must provide proof of a fecal exam within the last year with no parasite seen for participation in any services. A current bordetella vaccine is also required for each dog.
Other vaccine and medical requirements may apply to your species of pet.
